Cold Case Quest: Carolina Acosta

Chasing Destino
2 min readJul 11, 2019

On December 26, 2010, Carolina and Erick Acosta were carjacked by two men at the Tuttle Crossing mall in Dublin, Ohio. The carjackers had them drive to a rural area. While the carjackers were getting out of the car, Erick decided to drive off to get away. The carjackers shot a few rounds at the car. Unfortunately, Carolina was shot and died a short time later at a local hospital.

There wasn’t very much information on the security cameras at the mall. The police have said that the husband was cleared as a suspect. It seems suspicious that there were no witnesses and nothing useful on video footage. However, Erick Acosta has tried to keep the case in the public eye. If he was guilty, would he want people to keep talking about this case? Probably not.

The police have stated that they think a mid-size red car was following the suspects.

According to the Ohio General website, “ The suspects are described as black males in their late teens or early twenties. Both were described as 5ft 8in tall with brown eyes and brown hair.” So now the suspects would be in their late twenties or early thirties.

Someone knows what happened to Carolina Acosta but no one has come forward yet. Three to four suspects probably cannot keep a secret that big for too long. If anyone knows, should submit a tip to the Ohio Attorney General’s website, the Franklin County Sheriff’s office or Crime Stoppers
