Cold Case Quest: Sayuri Casas Yerena — chasing destino

At approximately 4 a.m. on Christmas morning of 2015, Sayuri Casas Yerena and her boyfriend, Victor Mendes Paredes, were shot multiple times. They were sitting in a parked car at the Wynds apartment complex.

According to the newspaper report, 18-year-old Yerena and 21-year-old Paredes were returning from a family gathering. The couple lived at the Wynds apartment complex, the location of the incident, with their young son. Their 3-year-old son was in the backseat but miraculously survived.

The police suspected that the shooting was related to a robbery. The couple seemed to not have time to react or escape. A neighbor had called to report seeing a robbery in progress.

No suspects were arrested. There were other shootings in the area but they do not seem to be related to this case. At this time, the case is still unsolved. Hopefully, someone will come forward with more information.
