Interview with . . . The Sh-Booms
If I could invest in one band right now, it would be The Sh-Booms. They are seriously a band to watch. I highly suggest listening to all of their music, buy all of their merch and follow them everywhere.
Al Ruiz of The Sh-Booms responded to a few questions in a timely fashion, which I appreciate. Check out the interview as well as the links below the video.
How many Tiny Desk episodes have you watched?
I don’t know exactly, but I enjoy the series.
What motivates you to keep playing music?
It’s my anxiety killer.
Where was your first show as The Sh-Booms?
Our favorite bar, Wills Pub here in Orlando, FL.
Will you be absolutely starstruck when you open for KRS-One?
It was a bit nerve-wracking the first time we played with him as we were just starting out. That kind of stuff fades when we’re in show mode if that makes sense.
Do you have a favorite KRS-One album?
We all grew up on the older stuff, Return of The Boom Bap/KRS-One, but hard to pick one.
Do you have a favorite Sh-Booms album?
Our debut record we just announced titled “The Blurred Odyssey.”
What is missing from music being made now?
That’s a loaded question. There’s plenty of underground music that rips out there, I’m sure some mainstream stuff too. Try to hunt for honesty.
Are there any plans for touring in 2019?
Yes, for sure. We just announced release dates and there will be more to come.
What do you want people to know about The Sh-Booms?
We’re some tough motherfuckers!
