Sleep Deprived Music Review: Mother Ghost
Brothers Oscar and Thomas Flores of Mother Ghost will be releasing their debut album, Somnambulo. Fun fact: Somnambulo is the Spanish word for sleepwalker. There are several sleepwalkers in my family. Some of us are still not allowed to have bats next to the bed.
Mother Ghost is a post-punk/New Wave band. There was a revolving door of drummers. So the trio switched to a duo with a drum machine. The band is currently based in Houston, Texas.
Oscar’s voice reminds me of the singer of Dead or Alive. The music is like Depeche Mode but more punk. My favorite song on the album is “Hiding in a Dumpster Waiting for ICE Agents to Leave I.” I also really enjoyed listening to “Somnambulo.” If you are a fan of post-punk and New Wave, then definitely give Mother Ghost a chance.
There used to be this vampire bar in Columbus. It wasn’t really a literal vampire bar but it could have been. I don’t know if it is still there or if I could give you directions. Was it even real? I’m pretty sure it was an actual place. If I could find the bar, I would suggest that the DJ should play Mother Ghost.
